Hearts have completed the transfer of Jamie Walker from Wigan Athletic, subject to international clearance.
The academy graduate returns to Gorgie following an 18-month spell in England and has penned a three-year deal with the Jambos.
He becomes manager Craig Levein’s third summer signing, hot on the heels of the acquisitions of former Livingston captain Craig Halkett and Northern Ireland striker Conor Washington.
The 26-year-old progressed through the ranks at Hearts after entering the academy system in 2009.
A first-team debut followed in 2012 and he went on to make a total of 181 competitive appearances in a maroon jersey over a five-and-a-half-year period.
Goals were a trademark of Jamie’s game during his first spell at the club and he notched a total of 40, including 11 during the 2014/15 Championship season, when he helped the Jambos to run away with the league title.
The creative midfielder also turned provider on a regular basis, with 35 assists to his name.
He made the move south to Wigan Athletic for an undisclosed fee in January 2018 and was part of the Latics’ League One-winning squad.
A loan spell at Peterborough United was cut short through injury last season, but he now returns home to Tynecastle and will wear the no.10 jersey.
