Heart of Midlothian FC uses a Supporters' Charter as a way of setting out what can be expected of the club, and in return the conduct expected of fans attending matches - both home and away.
Designed to be a 'guide' to everything to do with Hearts, the Supporters' Charter has been recognised by UEFA as a model for best practice.

Heart of Midlothian Football Club is dedicated to providing a safe online environment for its fans, sponsors and other stakeholders. Nevertheless, the club has a duty of care to all of its employees and must protect the business from any impending charges that might occur as a result of fan behaviour (online or offline).
This document clearly outlines the conduct expected of all contributors to our social media channels:
HMFC promotes healthy and honest discourse with its supporters.
We expect that supporters exercise personal responsibility whenever they participate in social media discussions.
Your comments, links, photos, and videos are welcome on our social feeds; however, all postings should be relevant to the channel and will be reviewed by our social media team.
Illegal content such as racial, ethnic, sexual, religious, and physical disability slurs is not tolerated.
The club reserve the right to edit, amend or delete any misleading, offensive, inaccurate or illegal content depicted on any official HMFC social media channel. The company also reserves the right to delete posts violating any governing body code of conduct.
Comments posted by others on our social media feeds do not represent the opinions of Heart of Midlothian Football Club.Use of profanities on the club
The club is a key member of the Scottish Football Association, and will not allow any derogatory reference to the SFA or its representatives to appear on the HMFC Social Media feeds.
Any contributors that fall short of these expectations may have their accounts blocked without notification.
The Club is not required to enter into conversations regarding its management of social media feeds. This includes, but is not limited to discussion regarding banned accounts.
In short, while creative and inventive posts are most welcome, we will remove any postings that are offensive, inappropriate, contain insults, bad language, illegal suggestions, attacks, commercial advertising, self-promotion, spam, or unwelcome solicitations.

Heart of Midlothian FC is fully committed to supporting local registered charitable organisations and we work closely with our local community on many different initiatives. We have a strong desire to build on our proud record of community involvement and enhance our reputation as a positive social force within the community.
Through our designated Charity Partners, we work with numerous young people and their families every year in raising educational standards, promoting inclusion and well-being, encouraging lifelong learning and supporting football development.
The Club delivers its charitable initiatives in association with its 3 Official Partners:

- Our chosen National Charity Partner - MND Scotland
- Our own Community Football Department
Big Hearts also administers the Club’s charity policy, which is set out below.
The Club maintains a close working relationship with our National and Local Charity Partners and we have arrangements in place that result in any requests for charitable support from our Partners, in the first instance, taking priority over other charitable requests.
Notwithstanding those arrangements, there are occasions when the Club will look favourably upon requests from third parties raising funds on behalf of other registered charities or appeals.
However, we are unable to consider such requests unless a written application is accompanied by an official letter on the charity’s letterhead confirming that the person is authorised to raise funds on the charity’s behalf, as well as the date and nature of the event and full contact details. Please note that we do not offer financial support of any kind.
Throughout the course of each season the Club also makes available a limited number of items to donate to third party causes. Although we would like to donate items to every worthwhile cause, this is simply not possible due to the high volume of requests received. In such instances, we aim to respond to all requests within a 4 to 6 week period to inform you if you have been successful or not in obtaining a donation.
Making a Charity Request
Big Hearts administers the Club’s charity policy.
Guidelines to submit a charity request are detailed on the Big Hearts’ website.
All requests for charitable donations must be submitted in writing and marked for the attention of: Charity Requests, Big Hearts Community Trust, Tynecastle Stadium, Gorgie Road, Edinburgh, EH11 2NL.
To help ensure all relevant information is provided from the outset, a downloadable form is available on this link. This should be completed and submitted as indicated.
Any applications received in a different format or via an alternative route (e.g. by phone, verbal requests to Club staff etc.) will not be considered.
We aim to respond to all requests submitted in the correct form within a 4 to 6 week period to inform if you have been successful or not in obtaining a donation.

If you register on www.heartsfc.co.uk, engage with the any of our associated sites (such as our Forever in Our Hearts Memorial Garden pages, Junior Jambos or Ticketing) or club shop for products or services using our online purchasing facilities, we may collect your personal information. Details may include, but not limited to:
Social media handles
Product selections or preferences
Credit card or other payment information including password
Occasionally we may also collect information on health or disability if it is relevant to ensuring your health and safety for an event or service you have booked with us.
In order to improve the quality of our services and to develop your online experience we also monitor and collect information about your digital footprint (e.g. the URL you came from, IP address, domain types), your browser type, the country and telephone area code where your computer is located, the pages of our website that were viewed during your visit, the advertisements you clicked on, and any search terms that you entered on our website. We may collect this information even if you do not register with us.
Many children visit heartsfc.co.uk and we would always encourage children under the age of 13 to talk with parents or legal guardians before submitting any personal information to this site or on any associated forums. The club will always endeavor to seek parental consent for any children under the age of 13 entering personal data for competitions and promotions.
3. HOW WE WILL USE YOUR INFORMATION
All personal information will be held and stored on secure servers used by Heart of Midlothian Football Club, Tynecastle Park, Gorgie Road, Edinburgh. EH11 2NL
We will use the information you provide us or that we collect about you in the following ways:

Any information collected from persons under the age of 18 will not knowingly be used for 3rd party marketing purposes. In the case of a competition, notifications of wins and/or prizes will be sent to a parent or legal guardian for any person under the age of 18.
To help us offer these services we, occasionally need to transfer some of your data to third parties for processing or to enable fulfilment of services. Keeping your information secure is very important to us. Your data will be held within the European Union and all reasonable measures to protect and safeguard your data in accordance with applicable data protection law will be taken. NB we cannot guarantee that any data conduction over the internet is completely and 100% secure.
In order for us to provide you with information that we think you will be interested in, your data may occasionally be processed and held by third parties outside the European Economic Area (EU). If this is the case we will put in place appropriate safeguards to ensure your data is secure and protected in accordance with applicable data protection law.
Please be aware that all open interactive areas (such as social media channels and online forums) are accessible to all users and their contents effectively available in the public domain. We highly recommend that you consider carefully about your submissions. If you choose to add content containing your personal information you do so at your own risk.
Shielding the online privacy of children is highly important. If we reasonably believe a user to be under 13 years of age, we may need to remove any personal details gathered from such a user and, where possible, all submissions. Junior Jambos will host parent’s contact details.

You have the right not to receive marketing material. This can be done by ensuring the correct consent boxes are ticked at the time of registration or making a purchase.

Heart of Midlothian aims to create and maintain a working and spectating environment free from racial and sectarian harassment and abuse.
Everyone connected with the club has a responsibility to prevent harassment or abuse and as such is responsible not only for their behaviour but that of others.
Proven harassment or abuse will lead to disciplinary or criminal action being taken against employees. Similarly, such behaviour by a spectator will result in a life ban from the club. The club will also give their full support to the police in any criminal action.
It is the responsibility of everyone to bring to the attention of the club any religious or racial needs they may have so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
This policy outlines the contributions required by everyone associated with the club in helping to achieve their aims.
What is a racist incident?
A racist incident is any incident that is perceived to be racist by the victim or any other person.
What is a sectarian incident?
A sectarian incident is any incident that exhibits behaviour of denegration of religion religious belief faith or affiliation in respect of fellow employees or any other person or groups of employees or persons.
Racial and/or sectarian harassment
Racial harassment is any verbal physical written or visible abuse that is based on a person's race, ethnic background, nationality, language, or cultural background - and is unwanted, unacceptable and offensive to the person.
Examples of harassment include:
Physical: intimidating gestures, physical violence or assault because of a person's race or ethnicity, or threat of the above.
Verbal: derogatory remarks about a person's skin colour, nationality or appearance, unwelcome remarks about a person's cultural observances, racist jokes and "needling".
Non-verbal: graffiti, defacing notices or posters, negative stereotyping of a particular ethnic or national group, written threats of a racial nature.
Examples of sectarian harassment include:
Verbal: derogatory remarks about a person's religion, religious leaders, the singing of sectarian/religious bigotry songs.
Non-verbal: graffiti notices, posters, emails or any written material deliberately intended to be of a sectarian nature and which will cause offence.
Intentional harassment is easily defined. There is no such thing as unintentional harassment.
The key characteristic is that the behaviour is unacceptable to the recipient.
Responding to Racism and Sectariaism (Employees)
Depending on the circumstances you can:
Speak up. Make it clear that such behaviour is unacceptable.
Offer support to people who are being harassed.
Promote mutual respect between individuals, regardless of their position in the club.
Educate all employees about the aims of the Racism & Sectarian Policy and their responsibilities.
Managers are required to investigate and produce a written report of all cases of reported racial harassment. This report will be presented to the board of directors.
The club may decide to resolve the issue information, through mediation and/or in confidence.
The club may decide to deal with the issue on a formal basis. The employee bringing the allegations should provide a full written statement. The person(s) complained about should be offered the opportunity of providing a verbal or written statement. They should be advised to seek legal advice at their own expense or use the services of their trade union.
Employees found guilty of racist or sectarian taunts to another employee, or any other person, are liable to disciplinary action. The normal disciplinary process will then apply. Depending on the circumstance, consideration will be giving to the passing of Disciplinary Hearing information to the police.
Responding to Racism and sectarianism (spectators)
Racist and/or sectarian taunts and abusive or threatening behaviour will not be tolerated. Supporters (home or visiting) will be detained by steward if they are guilty of such behaviour and passed to the local police in line with the Club's policy.
Season ticket holders detained for such a reason, face having their season ticket revoked.
For those spectators detained, the Club will consider imposing life bans from the stadium and passing their details to the appropriate authorities.
This policy is designed to give clarity to issues of racial and sectarian harassment, promote good relations between persons of different or national groups or religious persuasion and preserve and promote the good name of Heart of Midlothian Football Club.
The UK Government has introduced new reporting regulations under The Equality Act 2010 requiring companies with over 250 employees to annually disclose their gender pay gap from April 2017 onwards. Here we provide the statutory information and the context of our results.

Mean – The difference between the average of men’s and women’s pay and bonus.
Median – The difference between the midpoints in the ranges of men’s and women’s pay and bonus.
Statement from the Chief Executive
The mean gender pay gap for Heart of Midlothian Football Club has been calculated at 43.08%. This is a direct result of the highest paid people within the organisation being male footballers. The median average, which is less affected by extreme values, presents a zero pay gap, demonstrating pay equality.
The mean gender bonus gap is 49.13% as this includes footballer bonus payments.
The quartile analysis shows that the biggest gap is within the upper quartile, which is expected when including footballer salaries.
I confirm the data reported is accurate.
Principles of the Armed Forces Covenant
1.1 We Heart of Midlothian Football Club will endeavour in our business dealings to uphold the key principles of the Armed Forces Covenant, which are:
- no member of the Armed Forces Community should face disadvantage in the provision of public and commercial services compared to any other citizen
- in some circumstances special treatment may be appropriate especially for the injured or bereaved.
Demonstrating our Commitment
Heart of Midlothian Football Club recognises the value serving personnel, reservists, veterans and military families bring to our business. We will seek to uphold the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant, by:
- dedicating the home fixture closest to Remembrance Sunday as our Remembrance fixture;
- offering complimentary Coach Education course places for serving personnel / Reservists involved in coaching their community club and / or military youth football clubs;
- offering support to our local cadet units, either in our local community or in local schools, where possible;
- endeavouring to offer a degree of flexibility in granting leave for Service spouses and partners before, during and after a partner’s deployment;
- striving to support the employment of reservists, armed forces veterans (included the wounded, injured and sick), cadet instructors and Service spouses and partners;
- promoting the fact that we are an armed forces-friendly organisation;
- seeking to support the employment of veterans young and old and working with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP), in order to establish a tailored employment pathway for Service Leavers;
- seeking to support our employees who choose to be members of the Reserve forces, by granting an additional 10 days paid leave to undergo their training;
- offering to refund the balance of any season ticket purchased in the event of the holder being mobilised for duty / operations for the remainder of the season;
- dedicating a home fixture to Armed Forces Day;
- planning and executing the Haymarket Memorial Remembrance Sunday Service on behalf of the community to enable our, and other football clubs and supporters to pay their respects to the men and women who served their country.
2.2 We will publicise these commitments through our literature and/or on our website, setting out how we will seek to honour them and inviting feedback from the Service community and our customers on how we are doing.
Heart of Midlothian Football Club acknowledges its responsibility to safeguard the welfare of those who engage with the Club, especially children and vulnerable adults. We are committed to protecting children, young people and vulnerable adults from all forms of harm and actively promote the creation of a positive and supportive environment.
The Club has recently appointed a new Head of Safeguarding, Desmond Coyne, who will be carrying out a comprehensive review and update of existing policies and who will be responsible for overseeing the effective use of these policies and procedures to continue to safeguard the welfare of those who engage with the Club, especially children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Match Day Hospitality - Terms & Conditions
1. Please read the Hospitality Package Information enclosed with these Terms & Conditions. This has important information about dates, prices, benefits included in your hospitality package and booking fees.
2. Our dress code in hospitality is either smart or smart casual depending on the package selected - no trainers, jeans (other than dress denims) or football attire will be permitted. The Club reserves the right to refuse entry to any guests not complying with these dress code requirements. Guests will be notified in writing of the dress code for their chosen package. Lead bookers will be responsible for notifying their guests of this code.
3. Under the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005, a maximum of 10 alcoholic drinks per person over the age of 18 will be permitted. This is to ensure compliance with the mandatory conditions placed by statute on the Club’s Premises Licence. The Club reserves the right to refuse to serve alcohol to any individual, entirely at the Club’s discretion.
4. Alcohol may not be brought in to the Stadium, or removed from the Stadium, by you or any guests.
5. The Club reserves the right to refuse admission.
6. The Club reserves the right to remove any person whose behaviour is deemed unacceptable or they are believed to be intoxicated, abusive or causing a nuisance to other guests or staff.
7. Entry to the Stadium is subject to the Rules and Regulations of FIFA, UEFA, the Scottish Football Association, the Scottish Professional Football League, the Club’s Ground Regulations and the Club’s Unacceptable Conduct Policy.
8. You and your guests are subject to the Club’s ground regulations in respect of conduct both in the hospitality suite and elsewhere in the stadium. For reference, the regulations can be viewed on the Club’s website.
9. You shall be responsible for the orderly conduct of your guests and shall ensure that nothing is done or omitted to be done that will constitute a breach of the law or in any way cause a nuisance to, or be an infringement of, an occasion, or lead to the possible forfeiture or endorsement of any licence for the sale of alcohol.
10. The Club can accept no responsibility for the property of clients and guests in attendance at match day hospitality. Any items deposited in cloakroom or hanging areas in the stadium shall be at the owner’s own risk without obligation on the part of the Club.
11. The Club reserves the right to alter menus or the programme of events.
12. The Club does not accept liability for any rescheduling of fixture dates. If a fixture date is changed the hospitality boking will automatically transfer to the new fixture date with the option of a full refund.
13. Payment for hospitality packages is due in full at the time of booking.
14. Hospitality bookings are non-refundable unless otherwise set out in these terms and conditions and are non-transferable.
15. In the event of cancellation of any hospitality booking by a client:
- If the cancellation is more than [14 days] prior to the event, a credit note to book another date will be provided to the client;
- If the cancellation is less than  days prior to the event no refund or credit note will be given.
16. The client agrees that any cancellation rights are waived in regard to bookings made 14 days or less prior to the event.
17. [It is entirely at the Club’s discretion as to whether in exceptional circumstance these cancellation terms may be waived or altered.]
18. In the event of a match being postponed [immediately prior] to or after match hospitality has commenced, the Club shall agree with the client a reduced price for the equivalent hospitality package for the rearranged fixture if the client so wishes. For the avoidance of doubt, no refund shall be given.
19. The Club shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing any of its obligations to provide match day hospitality or for any loss or damage to property if the failure or delay was due to any cause beyond its reasonable control.
