McEntee keen to bounce back

22 August 2025

Oisin McEntee admits last weekend’s Premier Sports Cup defeat to St Mirren was a ‘tough blow’ but insists everyone is raring to go again this Saturday.

The Jambos welcome Motherwell to Tynecastle this weekend and will be looking to continue their successful start to the league season and make it three league wins from three.

Speaking to the media at the pre-match press conference, McEntee said:

“It was a tough blow to take, but we've bounced back well this week, and we've been training hard, and everyone is raring to go again.

“I think as a team we know we didn't start well in the first half and we kind of grew into the game and we can't allow ourselves to do that again. So, we just need to start sharp in all our games and earn the right in the first few minutes.

“We know we have the talent in the changing room to do good things this season and it's tough getting knocked out that early in the cup, but I think you just have to focus on the league now, work hard and get ready for Saturday.”

The midfielder, who has recently filled in on the right-hand side of defence insists he’s willing to play anywhere for the good of the team, as long as he’s on the pitch, he’ll be happy.

“I'm easy, listen, I'll play wherever. At a club like this, you want to be on the pitch, so whatever gets me on the pitch, I'll play.

“There are definitely different ways of playing and there's different styles, but I think anyone I've played with in there I've enjoyed playing with and different people have different qualities and it's just about working around their qualities.”

Finally, since joining the Jambos in the summer, McEntee says he’s enjoyed every minute of his time at Hearts so far.

“I've loved it. I've loved everything about it. It's been brilliant coming into a club like this every day and it's a really well-run club and I've just enjoyed every minute of it. Training here is a perfect training complex for a player and even Edinburgh itself has been really nice to live in.”
