Match Ticket Touting, Resale and Misuse Policy

1. Purpose

This policy forms part of the club’s ticketing terms and conditions and is intended to ensure fair access to match tickets for supporters while preventing ticket touting and other forms of ticket misuse.

All supporters purchasing or using tickets agree to comply with this policy and with all applicable stadium regulations.

2. Prohibition on Ticket Resale

Tickets purchased through official club sales channels are issued for the personal use of the purchasing supporter.

Tickets must not be:

  • Sold or offered for resale;
  • Advertised for sale; or
  • Distributed through third-party ticket resale platforms or online marketplaces;

this applies to all forms of resale, including via social media platforms (“Resale”).

Unauthorised ticket resale may constitute ticket touting and may breach relevant regulations and/or legislation from time to time re resale of football match tickets.

3. Personal Use of Tickets

Supporters must not purchase tickets on behalf of others where the intention is to resell the tickets or otherwise transfer them for profit.

Tickets remain the property of the club at all times and may be withdrawn, cancelled, or invalidated where misuse (including Resale) is suspected or identified.

4. Monitoring of Resale Platforms

The club actively monitors ticket purchasing activity, online resale platforms, and social media channels to identify tickets being advertised or sold in breach of this policy.

Where a ticket is identified as being offered for Resale in breach of these terms, the club reserves the right to:

  • Cancel the ticket without notice;
  • Refuse entry to the ticket holder;
  • Ask the ticket holder to visit the Ticket Office to provide ID to validate the name and address of the ticket holder to the Club’s satisfaction; and
  • Investigate the supporter account associated with the ticket purchase.

5. Ticket Cancellation

The club reserves the right to cancel any ticket that has been misused, including resold, advertised for resale, or transferred in breach of this policy.

Any ticket identified as being offered for Rresale on third-party platforms may be immediately invalidated. Entry to the stadium using such tickets will be refused.

Refunds will not be issued for tickets cancelled due to breaches of this policy.

6. Random Ticket Identification Checks

Random ticket identification checks may be carried out on purchases where supporters have their issued tickets (if purchased with post or digital delivery method selected) cancelled in such case, the relevant supporter will be required to collect physical tickets from the Ticket Office at Tynecastle after providing identification.

Supporters may be required to present valid photographic identification in order to gain entry to the stadium.

The identification must:

  • Match the name of the supporter who purchased the ticket; and
  • Correspond with the address registered on the supporter account.

Failure to provide valid identification may result in refusal of entry and further investigation of the associated supporter account.

7. Suspicious Activity and Investigations

Where a supporter is suspected of breaching this policy, the club may suspend the relevant supporter account while an investigation is carried out.

During this period:

  • Ticket purchasing privileges may be withdrawn; and
  • The supporter may be required to provide proof of identity and proof of address to verify the details registered on their account to the club’s satisfaction.

Accounts will remain suspended until verification has been completed and the investigation concluded.

8. Sanctions

Where breaches of this policy are confirmed, the club may apply sanctions including but not limited to:

  • Permanent banning of the supporter account;
  • Cancellation of current or future tickets;
  • Withdrawal of membership or loyalty benefits; and/or
  • Refusal of entry to the stadium.

Sanctions will be applied at the club’s sole discretion.

9. Compliance with Stadium Regulations

All supporters attending matches must comply with stadium regulations and instructions from club officials, stewards, and relevant authorities.

Where ticket misuse (including unauthorised Resale) is identified, the club may share relevant information with football authorities and Police Scotland where appropriate.
