John Souttar has become the latest player to pledge his future to Hearts by signing a contract extension.
The 22-year-old has signed a new deal that will keep him at Tynecastle Park until 2022, following in the footsteps of defensive teammates Christophe Berra and Michael Smith, both of whom recently extended their own contracts.
John was a deadline day capture from Dundee United back in 2016 and has grown from strength to strength under the tutelage of the likes of manager, and former Scotland defender, Craig Levein, club captain Berra and Northern Ireland’s record outfield caps holder Aaron Hughes.
Despite suffering two serious injuries, the centre half has made 95 appearances in a maroon jersey, scoring one goal, and this season he broke into the full Scotland team, winning three caps.
His start in Saturday’s 2-0 win over St Johnstone was his first since October, where he helped keep a clean sheet and provided a stunning assist for the opening goal of the game, scored by Marcus Godinho.
