A first-half lead for Hearts Women was ultimately undone by a late comeback as they played out a 2–2 draw with Glasgow City in Pilton on Sunday .
Andy Thomson made two changes following Wednesday’s Europa Cup draw against Real Sociedad, with Mariana Speckmaier and Monica Forsyth coming into the side.
The Jambos created the first opportunity of the afternoon in the second minute when Mariana Speckmaier fired from distance, forcing a comfortable save from Clachers in the Glasgow City goal. Hearts enjoyed a strong opening ten minutes, threatening from a dangerous corner and seeing Kayla Jardine come close to scoring.
Rachael Johnstone was called into action in the 15th minute, pulling off two consecutive stops in quick succession to keep the visitors at bay.
The breakthrough arrived in the 20th minute when Speckmaier brilliantly pressed a Glasgow City back pass, deflecting it straight past the goalkeeper to open the scoring.
Speckmaier nearly grabbed her second in the 32nd minute, but her shot went just wide of the target. Hearts were agonisingly close to extending their lead in the 44th minute, hitting the crossbar twice in quick succession from two headers.

Hearts extended their lead in the 50th minute, with Jardine heading home an Ellen Dolan cross to make it 2–0.
The match turned in the closing stages as Glasgow City staged a quick comeback, with Emily Gray finding the net for the visitors in the 82nd minute to halve the deficit, before Jessi Rossman struck in the 84th minute to level the score at 2–2 and ensure a share of the spoils.
A disappointing ending for the Jambos, who must now pick themselves up as they prepare for their second leg UEFA Women's Europa Cup tie in San Sebastián on Wednesday against Real Sociedad.
