Craig Halkett has told the Hearts support that he’ll give it his all each and every time he pulls on the famous maroon jersey.
The new arrival, who penned a three-year deal after agreeing to a pre-contract move earlier in the year, has now checked in to Tynecastle and is preparing to start life with the Jambos.
Formerly captain at fellow Premiership side Livingston, the 24-year-old hopes to be able to display his leadership qualities in Gorgie and has set his sights on breaking into the Hearts first team.
Speaking exclusively to HeartsTV, Craig said; “I’ll give it my all every single game for my team and the fans and the manager.
“I’m quite a quick, strong and aggressive defender. I’m not scared to put my head in where it hurts.
“I’m just kind of a give-it-all sort of player.
“I was honoured when Livingston asked me to be captain. It’s a massive responsibility.
“I looked at myself as a bit of a leader on and off the pitch, so hopefully I can continue that here.
“It’ll be a massive challenge (to break into the first team) but it was another reason why I wanted to come here, to play alongside the guys and learn from them.
“Playing against them the last few years I could see how good the partnership John (Souttar) and Christophe (Berra) had together so to go in and stake my claim for a place in the team will be pretty hard but it’s a challenge I’m really looking forward to and it’s something that I want to do.”
