Robbie Neilson hopes new signing Kenny Anderson can bring a fresh attacking element to his Hearts side as they prepare to face Livingston this Saturday.
The 22-year-old midfielder put pen to paper on an 18-month deal ahead of the end of the transfer window, and the head coach has revealed the Dutchman’s attacking prowess was one of the reasons they brought him in.
Speaking exclusively to HeartsTV, Robbie said: “He’s a player we had looked at in the summer.
“We’ve signed him on an 18-month deal because I think he’s got real potential.
“He’ll come here and he’ll give us a different dimension. I think he’ll progress as well.
“He’s more of a box-to-box midfielder. He can makes runs over the top, which is what we were looking for.
“We’ve got players in there that are defensively very good, so we decided that we needed someone that gives us that extra option.”
Fresh off the back of a fine 4-1 win away to Alloa Athletic, Robbie is anticipating another tricky game at the Energy Assets Arena against Livingston on Saturday, where his team recorded a 1-0 win in front of 7,500 Jambos in December.
“All away games this season are difficult, no matter where you go,” he said. “I expect it to be exactly the same on Saturday.
“They’re a difficult team to break down and they’ve got a lot of players who’ve played a lot of games in wither the Championship or the Premiership.
“We have to make sure we’re at our best if we’re going to get the three points.”
