Wouter Vrancken and Claudio Braga have previewed tomorrow’s UEFA Europa League Q3 match with Benfica.
The Head Coach and Portuguese forward spoke to the media in Lisbon ahead of the Estadio da Luz encounter, and both were confident in the Jambos’ ability to upset the odds on Thursday night.
Claudio, on being asked how Hearts cause an upset with Benfica overwhelming favourites, said; “Listen, I believe and I understand why you say that and why most people or everybody thinks like that. But at least personally, I've been proved that in football there are no impossibles.
“Like I told you, nobody comes here to lose and we are not a club that wants to do that. The mentality in the group is getting to the same way. Like I told them, we need to commit less mistakes and that's a big difference from the previous games that we're going to need to do.
“But that's what we need to do. Of course, we know they are a big team and stronger in the paper for sure. But that's not impossible in football and the truth is we're going to hope we can damage them.”
Wouter, on how Hearts can get a positive result, said; “The biggest belief is that we're making steps and we have to make a few more. Against a side like Benfica, it's also a good way to show how to stick together in every part of the game. Because when you lose this, then they will for sure kill you in these little moments.
“Like Claudio already said, these little moments have to go out of the game and for sure tomorrow.
“I think you can also be positive in how you defend, how you stick together, how you put a block for example. But we're trying not to be in our own six yards for example. We want to show that we can work together and also in these moments can show that we are a good team.”
