Derek provides injury update ahead of Motherwell
26 November 2025Head coach Derek McInnes hopes to have Lawrence Shankland, Stuart Findlay and Craig Halkett available for this Saturday’s Premiership match against Motherwell.
Shankland missed the weekend’s match at Pittodrie through injury, meanwhile Halkett was absent through suspension, both are expected to return with hopes Stuart Findlay will also be available having been substituted with an ankle issue at the weekend.
Speaking to the media at the pre-match press conference, McInnes said:
“We have a few hamstring injuries at the club at the minute. A few that we know about with Beni Baningime. He is still making progress and is on plan to potentially return against Falkirk, or Rangers the week after.
“Finlay Pollock is longer term, but Calem Nieuwenhof has been back out on the grass doing a bit with the physios, but again, another one who's probably a few weeks away with his hamstring.
“Ageu has been added to that now, there's been a setback as we've seen. On further investigation, the scan result shows a grade 2 tear in a slightly different area on the original hamstring, and he's due to see a specialist tonight just to make a plan of action for that one.
“Lawrence's scan came back clear. It's just been a bit of a reaction to the slip on the Astro, but no tear and no damage. He trained today. He trained about 85% of the session, he just didn’t do the max sprints, just to make sure there was no reaction to that tomorrow. And then with that, hopefully he can be ready for the weekend.
“Stuart Findlay came off on Sunday, with an ankle injury. Stu actually done his ankle against Hearts in the last game of the season. So, he had a wee bit of a complication through the summer with that, and he's never really felt anything up until the last couple of weeks, and he just felt it stiffen up at the weekend. So, we got that scanned and thankfully, nothing sinister going on, so he will train Friday and be available for the weekend.”

“Big Craig Gordon has been a wee bit under the weather with a bug that’s going about. So, he hasn't trained the last couple of days, but he's due to come in and do a bit tomorrow and train fully on Friday. But other than that, I think we're all good.”
