Derek: Fans' backing is magic
28 November 2025Derek McInnes wants his side to give a sold out Fir Park away end an early Christmas present on Saturday.
The Jambos will run out to a sea of maroon at Motherwell, with 4,800 Hearts fans in attendance and ready to back the league leaders from first whistle ‘til last, as they have done all season.
That level of support never ceases to amaze Derek, and he believes that the optimism that everybody connected with the club feels can help drive the team on to more victories.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Derek said; “It's magic (4,800 tickets sold). I mentioned it again to the players today about that. They'll be ready for it, we need to make sure we're ready for it and we will be.
“I think the supporters are enjoying what they're seeing. It was tough for the fans who travelled on Sunday and you always want to reward them with a positive result. They, like everybody else, will be hearing what everybody's saying. This is a downturn in Hearts, all the rest of it.
“We still have so much optimism about the season ahead and I'm sure the fans are. The fact that 4,800 turning up, I think we've sold out at Falkirk already, we've sold out at Celtic Park already.
“It shows you the buy-in for the supporters. They believe in the team, as I do, and hopefully we can reward them with a result on Saturday."
