Carly checks in

09 July 2025

We are delighted to announce the signing of Carly Johns on a deal until 2027.

A prolific scorer south of the border, the 22-year-old striker began her career at Oxford, where she netted 52 goals in 76 appearances.

While at United, Johns won the 22/23 National League Southern Premier Division Golden Boot after netting 20 goals.

That impressive season, saw her earn a move to Championship side Watford and despite a difficult season for the Hornets, which saw them relegated, Johns finished fourth in the league’s goalscoring charts for the season, with ten goals in 22 matches.

Johns was once again a player in demand the following summer and was snapped up by Durham, where her game time was more limited, but she still found the net on four occasions, as the team finished fourth in the Championship.

The forward now makes the move to Gorgie and will join up with Eva Olid’s side for the beginning of pre-season this week.

Speaking to the Official Hearts Website, Olid said:

"Carly is a player we’ve liked for a while, so we’re really happy to have her at Hearts. She’s got great quality, a strong work ethic, and brings a really good attitude to everything she does. She’s coming in with good experience, but also with the hunger to keep improving, which is exactly what we want in the group. I’m confident she’ll settle in quickly and make a positive impact on and off the pitch."

Women’s Head of Recruitment Sean Burt added:

"Carly’s been on our radar for a while, she’s consistently performed in tough environments and still found ways to impact games. She’s a proven forward in the Championship and, at her age, still has a lot of room to grow. There was strong interest in her, so we’re delighted she chose Hearts as the next step in her career. She’s the kind of profile we’ve been looking to add proven, ambitious, and ready to hit the ground running."
