Beau Reus has revealed that he turned down offers from other clubs to join Hearts after a day of research on the beach.

The big Dutch goalkeeper penned a three-year-deal to join the Jambos earlier this month, but not before doing some digging on the boys in maroon.

Mulling over offers from multiple clubs, he was familiar with the Jam Tarts’ exploits last season but nevertheless interrupted his holiday to make sure that Tynecastle Park was the place to continue his career.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, he said; “Well actually it was quite a funny story because I was with my girlfriend on the beach before her birthday so we got a call from my agent.

“So, we tried to enjoy it but all the day we spent searching for Hearts and tried to find out as much as possible that we could find.

(I knew about last season) because of Jordi Altena. In the Dutch press it was important to see about Hearts. It was a living story in Holland also and in Belgium.

“That's how you see it and how you get it along with you. So yes, it was good to see Hearts last year.

“Of course, there were some other clubs that had interest but I think the way Hearts came to us and how they explained everything, it was so clear. After the good meetings we had, it was a clear decision to come here.”
