29th June 2022

Eva Olid has bolstered her Hearts Women’s squad with the addition of Katie Rood on a pre contract.

The 29-year-old will be become a Jambo for the 2022/23 SWPL 1 campaign following the expiration of her deal at Southampton.

New Zealand international Rood is a hugely experienced forward. A persistent goalscorer in New Zealand’s regional leagues, she spent a period at English side Lincoln Ladies before undergoing a successful trial with Juventus. Katie would spend the 2017/18 season at Juve, helping them to win their first Serie A title.

On the move the following season, she returned to England to join Bristol City. A loan spell then permanent move to Lewes followed, before spending last year at Southampton where she played her part in the Saints’ FA Women’s National League Southern Division title win and subsequent play-off win over Wolverhampton Wanderers to secure the overall National League championship and promotion to the FA Women’s Championship.

Part of New Zealand’s squad for the 2012 U20s Women’s World Cup finals in Japan, where she made two appearances, Katie has gone on to win 15 caps for the senior side.
