Heart of Midlothian Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Andy Kirk as Hearts Women’s First Team Manager and Girls' Academy Manager.
Andy makes the move ahead of the highly anticipated Scottish Women’s Premier League season, which will see the Jambos compete in the top flight following last season’s hugely successful SWPL2-winning campaign.
A former Jam Tarts striker, Andy has coached Hearts’ men’s U15s, U17s, U20s, reserves and the first team since returning to the club in 2016.
With playing experience both sides of the border, as well as domestically and internationally for Northern Ireland, and a holder of a UEFA Pro Licence, he’ll bring a wealth of knowledge to the role in what is an exciting time for the women’s game, such is its booming popularity.
Speaking to the Official Hearts Website, Andy said: ”It’s a new challenge for me and along with managing the Girls' Academy, which will be a new experience, it’s something I’m really looking forward to.
“The club has invested a lot of time and money into improving the infrastructure of the women’s game and it’s an exciting time to be involved.
“Our season starts on October 18th and there is a lot of hard work to be done in preparation, so I’m eager to get the team on the training pitch and start putting our plans in place for what will be a tough, but hopefully enjoyable, campaign.”
