Zander called up to Scotland squad

The Jambos keeper has been named in Steve Clarke’s pool of players for this month’s UEFA European Championships qualifiers.

30-year-old Zander has been in fine form since taking over between the sticks following club captain Craig Gordon’s devastating season-ending injury.

Skippering the team in the last two matches, Zander has kept eight clean sheets in 15 games. That hasn’t gone unnoticed at international level and Zander’s call up marks his first involvement with the Scotland squad since June of last year.

Scotland’s opening Group A match will present Zander with the chance to win his first ever cap. Steve Clarke’s side host Cyprus at Hampden on March 25th.

Three days later they’re back in action again when they welcome Spain to Glasgow.
