Young duo pen one-year extensions
20 April 2026The club is delighted to announce that talented youngsters Charlie Sanders and Jack Lyon have signed one-year contract extensions until the summer of 2027.
The duo have gained valuable experience in the Lowland League this season and have played their part in helping the Wee Jambos’ reach the Youth Cup Final, which takes place at Hampden next week.
A central midfielder, Sanders has enjoyed his first season in the Lowland League this year, making 16 appearances for Angus Beith’s side.
Meanwhile, highly rated goalkeeper, Lyon, got a first taste of men’s football last season in the division and has continued his form into this season, racking up 22 matches between the sticks and captaining the men in maroon in Saturday’s final match of the season at Cowdenbeath.
The duo will now look to end the campaign with some silverware in the Youth Cup Final before continuing their development with the club next season.
Speaking to the Official Hearts Website, B Team head coach Angus Beith said:
“I’m delighted for Jack, who deserves this reward for his performances and his attitude this season. He is a great character, who attacks every day in training with enthusiasm and a desire to improve his game, all of those attributes make him a joy to coach.
“He has had some tough moments this season but has always shown a hunger to bounce back and having had the experience of being in and around the first team training and on a matchday, the challenge for him is to keep pushing towards those levels.”
On Charlie Sanders, Beith added:
“I’m delighted for Charlie as he’s had some tough times in recent years. In his two years, he’s had injury setbacks and limited game time for periods of time, but his attitude and desire to improve in those moments has never changed.
“I love working with him and I look forward to continuing to support his development moving into next season.”
