Wouter Vrancken can see his players gelling more by the day, which has left him eagerly anticipating this weekend’s Scottish Premiership opener.
The Jambos travel north to face Aberdeen on Saturday in what will be the Head Coach’s first experience of Scottish top flight football.
Having worked closely with his team on the training pitch over the past five weeks, and seeing positive moments during the Champions League loss to Strum Graz, Wouter is keen to get the Jam Tarts’ league campaign off to a flier, at a venue he is well aware has been an unhappy hunting ground for too long.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Wouter said; “I'm looking forward to it. Like I already said, it's a difficult away game now to start there.
“Because of not winning there for, I don't know, ten years or so. So, it has to be the aim and the goal to change those stats. And we have to go into it believing that we can do it, and we will.
“(I’m confident) Because of the players. You work with them every day and you see how they react and you see how they do their work on the pitch.
“You see how the players work and react and ask for feedback. And of course, they're also four or five weeks together to find the connection.
“So, again, when they find the connections more and more, it can only get better at the time.
“We as a staff have to push them to reach their full potential directly. And the individual themselves have to push themselves to be ready as soon as possible.
“It's about results and showing the quality there. So, like we said already last week, in football there is no long-term.
"It's only short-term and it's only what you can do in the next game. So, at this moment, we're just thinking about having a good result and trying to go there to take a win. And that's the aim.”
