We’re back for the second season of the Capital Cup as Hearts Women take on Hibernian Women in the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League. The iconic fixture provides the winner with the added bonus of lifting the Capital Cup trophy in front of their city rivals and claiming the bragging rights in Edinburgh.

Last season’s Capital Cup fixture at Easter Road saw a record-breaking crowd for the women’s domestic league with 8066 in attendance. This season Hearts are going for the hat-trick of wins with three points in the league, a trophy lift, and a record-breaking crowd at Tynecastle Park.

The first fixture will be played at Tynecastle Park on Sunday 10th September, with the reverse fixture being played at Easter Road on Sunday 19th November.

Thanks to the generous support of Baillie Gifford we can once again offer tickets free of charge to everyone who wants to play a part in helping us break the attendance record and support the team.

Tickets can be collected from the ticket office or booked online here with the option to include a £3, £5 or £10 donation – with the full amount being reinvested back into supporting the growth of girls and women’s football at Hearts.

Eva Olid, Manager of Hearts Women said:

“To play at Tynecastle last season, in front of such a big crowd was just a brilliant occasion. We are so grateful to Baillie Gifford for giving us the opportunity to do it again this season. I am hopeful that we can at the very least, match the attendance from last season’s match, but hopefully better it. We need all the support from the fans as that gives us extra motivation to give our best on the pitch for them.”

This season’s Capital Cup fixture, falls on World Suicide prevention day, and provides us the opportunity to continue raising awareness and support of SAMH The Changing Room project. The project has seen Big Hearts and the Hibernian Foundation team up to work towards one goal - bring people together through the power of football to help them take care of their mental health. You can learn more about the Changing Room and The Changing Room for Young Women projects on the Big Hearts website here.
