Kingsley: We Need To Make Things Right
27 September 2024Stephen Kingsley says the players accept responsibility for Hearts’ position in the league table and underlined the importance of translating the work done in training to a performance in front of the supporters.
Ross County visit Tynecastle Park on league business tomorrow afternoon, with Interim Head Coach Liam Fox targeting a crucial first three points of the season for the Jambos.
Although deeply frustrated by the start to the season, the experienced defender knows the only way to put things right is by winning.
“We got a message about what was happening on Sunday, and it was a real shock for the whole dressing room when it happened,” he told the media ahead of the game.
“Sadly, that’s football and the nature of the beast. No one feels more responsibility than us as players. The manager may lose his job, but for us as players we need to carry responsibility on our part too.
“We have to be better. It’s a horrible situation that we find ourselves in and we’re the ones who cross the white line onto the pitch and carry things forward. Foxy’s come in and the training has been good, and we’re looking for a positive result tomorrow to kick start this season.
“He’s painted a picture of what he wants and it’s up to us as players to translate it from the training pitches and meeting room - to the pitch and in front of the fans where it matters.
“I’ve been in football long enough to know how important this next step is. We need to make an impact. The season that we’ve got, with the European games coming up as well, we hopefully get the win tomorrow and kick on from there with a clean slate.
“Ross County is always a tough game but we have an opportunity to put things right.”
