Spittal relishing Scottish Cup tie
15 January 2026Blair Spittal insists Hearts must recover well ahead of Saturday’s Scottish Cup tie against Falkirk.
In back-to-back games, the men in maroon have had to dig deep to emerge with six points, despite first half red cards and the midfielder believes momentum is building ahead of Saturday night’s clash.
Speaking to Hearts TV he said, “We're all looking forward to the game on Saturday, especially after a night like Wednesday.
“It's all about recovery for these sort of games in short periods, but I think you can see, obviously last season didn't go the way we wanted, but we can see the sort of momentum that a good cup run can build, so it's important that we look to try and get into the next round.
“We have a day off tomorrow, so we just need to make sure we recover and get ourselves right. The manager stressed it with the three games in six days, the importance of what the squad will be, going into this game especially, so there's been a few injuries, suspensions as well, but it's all up to us now as a squad to deal with that.
“Saturday will be a great occasion. So, we need to make sure we're ready for it.”
An all-Premiership tie presents a tough test but having come out on top in the two previous matches between the sides this season, Spittal knows if the performance is there, the Jambos have a good chance of progression.
“Tough game, he added. “I've not watched the game against Celtic, but by all accounts, they were really good in the game. We've played against them twice now, they've been tough games, but we've come out on the right side of that, so we just need to make sure that we're ready for that. We know we've got the players in there that can make the difference.”
