Shanks previews Celtic (H)
22 November 2024Fresh from a successful international break with Scotland, Lawrence Shankland hopes to kick on in a maroon jersey.
Although yet to hit the high goalscoring figures this campaign, our number nine is confident his lethal form in front of goal will soon return.
Having experienced such period in his career before, Lawrence knows what’s required to navigate this period and get back on top form.
“Obviously, it's human nature for a striker, you've got to be scoring goals,” he told the media ahead of tomorrow’s game against Celtic.
“But listen, it's the moment I'm in. I've been here before in my career; I've came through it and I'm sitting here today.
So, I will survive it and going forward, hopefully the goals will start flowing again. But as I said, concentrating and stripping it back, it's just concentrating on your own game again and then hopefully the goals will flow from there. The team has put in some good performances and not come away with results before the break there.
“It's part of the process. You need to go through this to get the goals again. The good thing is, I'm still there. I'm getting chances. I'm shooting. I'm missing, unfortunately but if you keep getting into the position and keep hitting shots, eventually you'll score goals.”
The Jambos welcome table topping Celtic to Gorgie tomorrow evening as league business resumes.
Under the lights, live in front of the Sky Sports cameras, it’s set to be a cracking night at Tynecastle, with Shankland looking forward to the occasion.
“I think the atmosphere will obviously be pretty good,” he added.
“It always is when we come out of these big games. But I think it'll add to it that it's obviously on a Saturday evening and stuff, under the lights. So, we can look forward to it.”
