Robbie: Fir Park always tough place to go

The Jambos travel to Lanarkshire for a lunchtime kick-off on Sunday against the Steelmen, who will be in good spirits following a midweek victory over St Mirren.

The Jambos have been triumphant in the two previous meetings with Well this season, but there will be a new face in the hosts' dugout this Sunday following the departure of Steven Hammell, with Stuart Kettlewell currently in charge on an interim basis.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Robbie said: “When one manager leaves and someone else comes in, it’s always going to be different.

“I watched Motherwell on Wednesday night against St Mirren, and they changed their shape and went 3-5-2 and were more direct and aggressive in their play and they got the result.

“So, I would expect them to stick with that but that depends on if someone else comes in before that, so you never really know what you’re going to get when you play against a team in that interim stage.

“It is always a difficult place to go. They got a great result and performance midweek. Every team in the league is capable of beating someone else. The Old Firm have taken that step away, but even on their day at home, teams can beat them.

"Kilmarnock, St Johnstone, and Ross County have all given us very difficult games and taken points off us, it just shows how tight the league is.

“We’re trying not to look at them too much. For us, it’s about looking at ourselves and what we need to do to win the game.

“We play on Sunday this week, so obviously we’ll have a good idea of where we’re sitting, and obviously for us, the further clear we can go in third place the better.”
