Harry Milne says Hearts are feeling good and ready to go ahead of tomorrow night’s Champions League second round qualifier against Sturm Graz.
It will be a first competitive outing for the men in maroon under new boss Wouter Vrancken and the left back says all the players are desperate to impress and be involved in Austria.
Speaking to the media at the pre-match press conference, Milne said:
“Obviously, we're feeling good. It's the first proper competitive match. I think since the new management team have been in, everyone's been itching to impress and trying to get into their thoughts ahead of this game.
“I think that's been reflected in the way we've trained and since obviously the management have been in. I think the standard of training has been high and everyone's out to impress and be part of this game.
“We've got a 22-man squad that we've managed to take and a lot of boys are back at home that feel hard done by, but that's the nature of the way we've gone about our business this summer and I feel like we've got a really strong chance and a strong squad going into this game.
“I feel like if you had said to me about a year and a half ago, it would have been a bit of a stretch to be coming here in the Champions League, but this is the way that football works and we deserve to be here.
“It's the biggest competition that we've got here in Europe. I think when I was growing up, you'd get one game a week on ITV, I think, with Andy Townsend and I can't remember who the other commentator was, but yeah, you'd get to stay up for it that one time in the week. So, yeah, obviously nice. Nice to be part of that competition now and it's obviously a testament to what we did here last year, that we've managed to get in a position that the club has now got the opportunity to play for a place in the competition this year. We're just excited to get going.”
