Rachael excited to be a part of project Hearts

18 January 2024

New signing Rachael Johnstone admits she has been impressed with what she has seen from Hearts since the arrival of Eva Olid in the summer of 2021.

Johnstone, who joins the club from Celtic, admits she has been following Hearts’ recent progress closely and is excited to be a part of what continues to be an exciting time for the club.

Speaking to Hearts TV, Johnstone said: “I’m buzzing to be here."

“It’s been a long time coming, so I’m just buzzing to get started now.

“It seemed like a really exciting project that I wanted to be a part of. I already know a lot of the coaching staff as I have worked with them before, I know a lot of the players too and I have heard a lot of positive things from the players too.

“If you compare the club now to where it was a couple of years ago, they have done amazing. That is all down to the club and the support they have given the women’s team. That is great to see and it’s great for women’s football.

“I got in and met a lot of the girls yesterday which was really nice. I know quite a few of them from various Scotland camps, so I’m very much just looking forward to getting started now.”
