Pete's Here To Stay

06 July 2022

The Austrian midfielder's Hearts story will continue after putting pen to paper on a new one-year-deal, with the option of a further year, as he extends his four-year association with Tynecastle.

Pete first arrived in Gorgie in 2018 after leaving SV Ried, and quickly made his mark with a series of cultured performances in midfield and defence that helped steer the club towards the 2019 Scottish Cup final in his debut season.

He would then battle back from a long-term injury that curtailed his 2019/20 campaign, making a roaring return to the starting eleven and becoming a core component in a side that finished third and reached another Scottish Cup Final.

With a new deal secured, Pete will be ready to travel by train, boat, bus, or fly, as the Jambos prepare for a European tour.

Manager Robbie Neilson said: "I'm very happy that we've reached an agreement with Peter. Everyone knows about his quality and what he brings to the table, so to get him back for the new season is very pleasing."

Sporting Director Joe Savage added: "Peter had been back in Austria for his holiday. I spoke to his agent, then Peter spoke to the manager, and we agreed that he would be back for next season.

"He's one that we're delighted to keep because he was such a big part of last season's success. We're really pleased to get him re-signed."
