Penrice previews Fir Park trip

11 April 2025

James Penrice admits Hearts know what they need to do when they travel to Fir Park this Saturday.

The men in maroon head to North Lanarkshire knowing that if they pick up all three points, their top six spot will be confirmed, regardless of results elsewhere.

Penrice added that after a difficult start to the season, everyone has been enjoying the upturn in performances and results and believes the squad are capable of picking up the required result this weekend.

Speaking to the media at the pre-match press conference, the left back said:

“It's a big game. It's still in our hands and we just need to go there and get three points. I think with what's in the dressing room, we know we can go there and go and get three points and cement our place in the top six.

“It was a very difficult start. I think everyone's noted that, but I think over the last couple of months we've put a bit of form together. It's really flipped and we're probably unlucky not to have more points with some of the games that we've had in the last couple of months.

"It's been very enjoyable, obviously the flip in form, but a bit of a disappointment to not have it [top six place] already cemented. It's still in our hands, so that's what we need to look forward to now.

“Big games at the end of the season against big teams, you want that. To try and push for European places, that's what you're here to do. You're here to finish as high as possible in the league and that's what the boys want to do.”
