Oisin thriving at Hearts

16 October 2025

Oisin McEntee admits he has no complaints to how his life at Hearts has started.

The versatile midfielder joined the Jambos from Walsall in the summer and has already proved to be a good addition, impressing both in centre midfield and at right back and says he’s loving life in maroon.

Speaking to the media ahead of this Saturday’s trip to Rugby Park, McEntee said:

“When I arrived, I expected big things, but obviously we're doing unbelievable. I don't know if I expected it to be this good, but it's been unbelievable since I came in, I can't complain. It's a really exciting time.

“I think it's just the whole fan base and the size of the club. I was up here as a young player and I didn't really know much about the Premiership teams and stuff like that. I knew it was a big club, but I didn't realise it was this big in Edinburgh.

“I think with any team, you don't know how well you're going to do. You just have to keep plugging away and playing it game by game. That's what we've been doing and we've been picking up wins and there's no reason why we can't win more.”

The Jambos return to action following another late winner, this time courtesy of Craig Halkett in the Edinburgh Derby and McEntee explained there’s a real belief within the dressing room.

“I think that is one thing that I've noticed to club’s I've been at previously, when you're stepping out onto the pitch, you're expected to win every game. I think the belief in the changing room is that we can win every game.

“You turn up to training every day and you're training with players that are just unbelievable. Even the boys that aren't playing and haven't played as many minutes this season, you're watching them in training thinking they're unbelievable players. It definitely gives you that belief.”

McEntee added that he’s enjoying working under head coach Derek McInnes:

“He's been really good with me. He's obviously looked after me when I came in and told me my role. Obviously, stepping up a level, it was going to be hard for me at the start.

“He's definitely helped me and coached me into playing under his tactics. I feel like I've adapted well.

“He's the leader of it and he's set us up tactically brilliantly for every game and gave us that belief that we can win games of football. He's been around in this league and knows this league very well and has a lot of experience, so I think he'll definitely be able to help us with that, and he has been helping us.”
