Mooney joins Hearts Women
31 January 2024Eva Olid has added further firepower to her attack with the signing of Kate Mooney who joins the club on an 18-month deal after leaving Lewes FC.
Capped for the Republic of Ireland at youth level, the striker started her career at Shelbourne in 2016 and after a second-place finish in the League of Ireland, Mooney made the switch to Dublin to join DLR Waves.
Mooney bagged 13 goals for Waves before making the switch to Peamount United where she would notch a further 10 goals in 14 matches, before joining Lewes.
After making 11 appearances for The Rooks, Mooney arrives in Gorgie to enhance Hearts’ push for back-to-back fourth place finishes.
Speaking to the Official Hearts Website, Eva OIid said:
“I am delighted that Kate has agreed to join us. The quality in our squad continues to grow and Kate further enhances our attacking quality.
“It is important for us to have good squad depth in every position and Kate is certainly the type of player that will help us achieve our goals for the second half of the season.”
Women’s Head of Recruitment, Sean Burt added:
“Kate is a player we’ve always shown interest in and have previously explored the option of signing.
“She possesses a lot of the qualities that we’ve previously seen to be very successful in this league. She’s strong, hard-working, great in the air and has been extremely prolific throughout her short career.
“I am very much looking forward to working with her over the next 18-months.”
Welcome to Hearts, Kate!
