MJ’s Gorgie Hopes

19 June 2026

New arrival MJ Kamson-Kamara says he is already eager to pull on the famous maroon jersey and make his Jambos debut.

The defender arrives at Tynecastle following the expiration of his contract at Lincoln City and the London-born, 20-year-old, who most recently enjoyed a productive loan spell at Glentoran, is excited to get started.

“It feels amazing”, MJ said in his first interview with Hearts TV.

“I can't wait to represent this massive club. The history of the club. The fans as well, and just the atmosphere at Tynecastle. I just can't wait to get going. I can imagine when the stadium is full. The atmosphere will be crazy and now I'm here, I can imagine it'll be just immense.”

A loan spell from his parent club Lincoln City gave the centre back an early introduction to men’s football at just 17 years old, something MJ admits he learned a lot from, as he gave the Hearts fans an insight into what they can expect from their new defender.

“I'd like to say I'm an aggressive, front-footed defender that just loves to defend, loves to block the ball and just loves to be aggressive.

“Lincoln were good with me. They sent me on loan from the age of 17, playing at non-league sides, getting that experience of men's football, which I thought was really important instead of playing youth football.

“I learned a lot of lessons, made mistakes. It was vital for my career so far.”

Asked about his spell at Glentoran last year, he continued, “I enjoyed it. The fans were great. The players, the manager, the coaches were all great with me.

“I learned a lot at that club and at that level, living away [from home] as well in a different country, which I've never done before. It was a very enjoyable one. And I can only say thank you to Glen's players, staff and fans.”

MJ doesn’t have long to wait now to meet his teammates and for that first taste of competitive football, in the Champions League, against Sturm Graz.

“I can't wait to meet everyone now. A lot of good players with good experience. I can't wait to learn from them and just get better and better.

“It's going to be amazing to be going across Europe and playing against massive teams, massive fans, massive stadiums. Especially the Champions League, which from being down in England, there's something I'm not used to. It’s a big spotlight for a player like me, a young player. So, 100 per cent, I can't wait to get going, really."
