Megan Bell joins on loan

25 January 2024

Hearts Women are delighted to confirm the signing of Megan Bell, who joins on loan from Rangers until the end of the season.

The 22-year-old midfielder made her senior debut for Linfield aged just 14 and after spending four years at the Belfast outfit, Bell joined English Championship side Durham.

After scoring on her debut against Leicester City, Bell would go on to make 14 appearances during a six-month stint at the club before making the switch to full-time football at Rangers in January 2020.

Bell’s Rangers career has been hindered by injuries; however, she has managed to lift silverware during her time at Ibrox, lifting both the league title and Sky Sports Cup in 2022.

A Northern Ireland internationalist with 25 caps to her name, Bell now joins the Jambos in a bid to help secure a top four finish in the SWPL for the second season running.

Speaking to the Official Hearts Website, manager Eva Olid said:

“I’m delighted Megan has agreed to join us on loan. She is a player we have watched and admired for some time now, so I’m very excited to see what she can bring to us.

“Everyone knows we want to dominate possession and create opportunities in our games. Megan is a very creative player, who will help us do just that. I very much look forward to working with her.

Women’s Head of Recruitment Sean Burt added:

“Megan was a signing we were desperate to get done. Her quality is there for all to see. For her age, she has a lot of experience, playing in three different leagues, as well as featuring and scoring for Northern Ireland.

“We were looking to add a bit more quality in wide areas and Megan’s versatility will be key to that as she is effective in any of those three positions behind a striker.”

Welcome to Hearts, Megan!
