McPake: Here and raring to go

25 June 2026

Josh McPake believes pulling on the maroon jersey has been worth the wait.

Having announced a pre-contract agreement in January, the Championship’s player of the year is now officially a Heart of Midlothian player.

Itching to get started and pick up where he left off last season, 24-year-old Josh admits he’s delighted to finally be a part of things at Tynecastle Park.

Speaking to Hearts TV, Josh said; “I feel pretty good. I knew I was coming here for quite a while now, but to finally get in here is brilliant.

“It's been ups and downs, but listen I wouldn't change it for the world because I'm standing here today as a Hearts player, but I think football moves on fast so this is my next challenge and I'm really looking forward to it.

“Just being at a club like Hearts, the fans, playing in the stadium week in week out and just kind of enjoying it. Getting back to enjoying my football like I have done the previous season and, hopefully, I do well.

“(I’m feeling) Pretty excited, I'll come back as fit as I can and ready to go.”

Josh’s interview is available to watch in full on Hearts TV.
