McFarlane signs Contract Extension
18 August 2026Heart of Midlothian Football Club is delighted to announce goalkeeper Liam McFarlane has signed a contract extension until the summer of 2029.
The 21-year-old is currently enjoying a successful start to the season, on loan at Partick Thistle, after previous loan spells at East Fife and Alloa Athletic.
The stopper is fresh off the back of gaining valuable experience at the World Cup, having travelled with the Scotland squad as a training goalkeeper over the summer.
The highly rated ‘keeper has kept two clean sheets in Thistle’s opening two Championship matches of the season, against Greenock Morton and Livingston respectively and is expected to be a key player, as Mark Wilson’s side look to gain promotion to the Premiership.
A Hearts Academy graduate, McFarlane has already been capped for Scotland at youth level and has now put pen to paper on a contract extension, which will see him remain at Tynecastle Park until 2029.
