Match Report: The Spartans 0-4 Hearts Women

11 December 2025

Hearts Women sailed into the next round of the Scottish Gas Women’s Scottish Cup with a 4-0 win over Spartans at the Vanloq Community Stadium- Ainslie Park.

Georgia Timms and Bayley Hutchison put the Jambos 2-0 up at the break as Sade Adamolekun and Monica Forsyth’s second half strikes sealed the victory in Pilton.

Eva Olid made two changes from the 8-1 league win over Hamilton before the international break.

Erin Husband replaced her sister Jess in defence as Keri Halliday started ahead of Eilidh Shore in midfield.

Hearts took the lead early on in the incredibly windy conditions at Ainslie Park.

In the 5th minute, Jenna Slattery sent in the corner from the left and striker Georgia Timms arrived to slam the ball home past goalkeeper Alicia Yates for 1-0.

The women in maroon could have made it two in the 21st minute as Georgia Timms’ low cross found Sade Adamolekun who was thwarted by Yates from close range.

Bayley Hutchison doubled Hearts’ advantage before the break.

In the 39th minute, Danique Ypema ventured into The Spartans box. As the defence scrambled to clear their lines, Hutchison pounced and struck one into the bottom left corner for two.

Half-time: The Spartans 0-2 Hearts

The Jam Tarts looked to up the tempo in the second 45.

Half-time substitute Carly Johns came on to make an instant impact as she drove down the left and played it to Sade Adamolekun just inside the box. The Hearts midfielder scored a brilliant curled strike past Yates for 3-0.

With 15 to go, the striker looked to get on the scoresheet herself as she dribbled into the box, cut it on to her right foot and looked to curl it into the far corner, but her effort whistled past the post.

The women in maroon sealed the win in the 87th minute. Johns did brilliantly down the left flank once again, as she had her low strike palmed away by Yates. It fell kindly for Monica Forsyth who was on hand to tap it home from close range for 4-0.

In the end, it was a comfortable night’s work for Hearts, as they secured their place in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup. They will travel to face SWPL2 side Stirling University on Sunday January 11th.
