Match Report: Hearts Women 7-0 Montrose

12 October 2025

Hearts defeated Montrose 7-0 at Oriam in the Scottish Power Women’s Premier League on Sunday.

Eva Olid made four changes from the 7-0 win over Montrose in the Sky Sports Cup last weekend.

Sade Adamolekun, Lauren Wade, Lizzie Waldie and Bayley Hutchison all returned to the starting XI.

It was a cagey first 15 minutes as Hearts struggled to get going in attack despite dominating the possession.

In the fifth minute, striker Bayley Hutchison hit a dinked effort in the box looking to put it over the head of Lauren Perry in goal, but the goalkeeper claimed it.

The Jam Tarts came forward again through midfielder Jenna Slattery. She struck a curled effort at the edge of the area but it was an easy take for Perry.

Hearts finally made the breakthrough. On 27 minutes, referee Robert Thomson pointed to the spot after Carly Johns was chopped down in the box.

The striker stepped up and calmly dispatched her penalty into the bottom right corner for 1-0, giving Perry no chance.

The women in maroon made it two before the break. The corner from the left was played short and Lizzie Waldie whipped the cross in and Hutchison powered her header home for 2-0.

Half-time: Hearts 2-0 Montrose

Hearts looked to put Montrose to the sword in the second 45.

In the 48th minute, Montrose failed to clear their lines from the corner. The ball arrived at the feet of Lauren Wade at the edge of the box who hit a powerful low drive into the bottom right corner for 3-0.

On 61 minutes, Sade Adamolekun played a fantastic through ball to split the Montrose defence and play Hutchison in behind. She drove into the box and showed great composure to score into the bottom left corner for 4-0.

Kayla Jardine got in on the act in the 69th minute. The ball was cleared as far as the midfielder and from 25 yards she hit an unbelievable strike on her left foot into the top corner for five.

Bayley Hutchison made it a hat trick in the 73rd minute. Substitute Georgia Timms hit a low strike just outside the box which Perry palmed away, and Hutchison followed up to fire home from the rebound for 6-0.

In the 86th minute, Timms found herself free in the box and poked the ball past Perry to get herself on the scoresheet.

Despite a slow first half, it was another comfortable afternoon for Hearts as they secured an important three points in the league.
