Match Report: Hearts Women 3-0 Motherwell Women

14 September 2025

Hearts defeated Motherwell 3-0 in the Scottish Power Women’s Premier League at Oriam on Sunday.

Carly Johns and Lauren Wade put the Jambos 2-0 up going into the break, before Eilidh Shore made it 3-0 in the second 45.

It was a special moment for Hearts captain Georgia Hunter who made her long awaited return from her ACL injury after 501 days out of action, as she came on to replace Erin Husband in the second half.

Eva Olid made two changes from the 2-0 Edinburgh derby victory over Hibernian at Tynecastle Park last Sunday.

Bayley Hutchison replaced Georgia Timms in attack while Kayla Jardine came in for Joely Andrews in midfield.

Hearts started brightly and penned Motherwell back in their own half as they dominated the possession.

Sade Adamoleukun swung a corner in from the left, and striker Bayley Hutchison met it, but her effort hit the side netting.

From then on, it was one way traffic as the Jambos soon found their opener.

In the 17th minute, Monica Forsyth’s strike crashed off the right hand post and Carly Johns was on hand to fire home from close range for 1-0.

The women in maroon had their second not long after.

On 22 minutes, Danique Ypema floated a brilliant ball to find Lauren Wade on the left flank. The winger cut inside and hit a powerful strike on her left foot which crashed underneath the crossbar and in for 2-0.

Adamolekun swung in another corner from the left which found Hutchison in the middle who met it with a header, which looked goal bound, but her effort was blocked by a maroon jersey.

Just before the break, Johns was sent through on goal and struck one just inside the box, but her effort went wide of the target.

Half-time: Hearts 2-0 Motherwell

As the rain began to lash it down at Oriam, Hearts looked to continue their good work from the first 45.

In the 51st minute, Eilidh Shore spread the play out wide to Monica Forsyth who drove into the box and got a strike away, which forced a good stop from Cameron to deny her.

The Jam Tarts got their third in the 56th minute.

Motherwell failed to clear their lines properly from the corner, and the ball found its way to Eilidh Shore at the edge of the box. The midfielder expertly curled her strike into the bottom right corner for 3-0.

Substitute Keri Halliday had a decent opportunity to make it 4-0. In the 78th minute, the attacker was played through on goal and managed to get a strike away, but Cameron was quick off her line to deny her.

Ultimately, it was a comfortable victory for Hearts who made it three wins in three in the league.

Eva Olid’s side will look to carry the momentum heading into their away clash against Glasgow City next Sunday at Petershill Park, kick-off at 1pm.
