Match Report: Hearts Women 2-4 Celtic (AET)

16 February 2026

Hearts Women were defeated 4-2 by Celtic in the Scottish Cup quarter-final at Oriam on Sunday.

The women in maroon fought back to make it 2-2 in the second half through Georgia Timms to send the game to extra-time, but goals from Luke and Emily Lawton secured the victory for the visitors.

Eva Olid made two changes from the 6-0 win over Aberdeen at Oriam last weekend.

Skipper Georgia Hunter returned to the starting eleven with Kayla Jardine, as Monica Forsyth and Ellen Dolan dropped to the bench.

Celtic opened the scoring in the 23rd minute. Cross was played in behind the Hearts defence in acres of space, and struck one into the bottom left corner for 1-0.

Hearts hunted for a leveller and were almost gifted one as Rodgers’ clearance went short to Timms just outside the area. The striker hit one looking for the far corner, but the Celtic goalkeeper made a good stop to deny her.

The Jambos got their equaliser in the 37th minute. Kayla Jardine picked up the ball at the edge of the area, took a touch before firing a rocket on her right foot into the top left corner of the net for 1-1.

But the visitors got themselves back in front just before the break. Westin’s effort took a huge deflection off of Georgia Hunter and into the back of the net for 1-2.

Half-time: Hearts 1-2 Celtic

Hearts searched for another leveller in the second 45.

Just past the hour mark, Slattery floated another corner to the back post and Carly Girasoli arrived with the header, but her effort went over the bar.

Jackie Richards made her long-awaited return from injury in the second half and nearly made an instant impact as her glanced strike went wide of the target from close range.

Hearts got on level terms in the 77th minute as Georgia Timms’ effort from just outside the box took a wicked deflection and nestled into the bottom right corner for 2-2.

Full-time: Hearts 2-2 Celtic

Extra-time:

In the 92nd minute, Timms tried her luck from distance but her effort was a comfortable one for Rodgers.

Celtic got themselves back in front on 97 minutes as Luke arrived in the box to tap home the cross from a few yards out.

They made it 4-2 in the 105th minute as Lawton fired home from close range.
