
Match Report: Hearts Women 2-0 Hibs Women
07 September 2025Hearts Women claimed the Edinburgh Derby bragging rights as they defeated Hibernian 2-0 in the Capital Cup at Tynecastle Park on Sunday afternoon.
Georgia Timms dispatched her penalty in the second half before Jess Husband came off the bench to fire home for 2-0 in the 82nd minute as she helped Hearts seal all three points in the Scottish Women’s Premier League.
Eva Olid made five changes to the side that beat Motherwell 2-0 last weekend.
Lizzie Waldie, Monica Forsyth, Eilidh Shore, Joely Andrews and Georgia Timms all returned to the starting eleven.
Hibernian had an early opportunity in the derby. In the 3rd minute, Stacey Papadopoulos' strike was deflected behind for the first corner of the afternoon.
The corner from the left was played short and Ciara Grant looked to curl one, and Rachael Johnstone made a fantastic stop to deny her.
In the 10th minute, Eilidh Adams got a strike away just inside the Hearts box, but Danique Ypema made a great block as the Jambos got it cleared.
Shortly after, it was good work from Monica Forsyth down the right as she found Timms, her effort was deflected out for another Hearts corner.
Lauren Wade played it short to Georgia Timms who fired it to the back post, Lizzie Waldie met it but hit the side netting with her effort.
Hibs’ best chance in the first half arrived in the 25th minute. Eilidh Adams cut it back for McGovern into the box, she got a strike away which forced a great save from Hearts goalkeeper Rachael Johnstone to deny her.
The women in maroon had a great chance just before the break. It was great work from Lauren Wade down the left as she whipped in the cross. Striker Carly Johns met it but her glancing header went wide of the post.

Hearts were on the attack straight away to start the second 45.
In the 47th minute, Forsyth played it into Johns in the box who hit one on the turn, but it was straight at Schumacher.
In the 53rd minute, Hibs’ Tiree Burchill looked to be clean through on goal, but Danique Ypema put in a fantastic last ditch challenge and Hearts got it cleared.
Shortly after, Rachael Johnstone was called into action again. Livingstone lashed her strike aiming for the bottom left corner, but Johnstone got down well to palm it away.
The Jam Tarts continued to look threatening on the counter attack. Joely Andrews set Sade Adomolekun through the middle, she drove into the box before hitting a curled effort on her right foot, but Schumacher tipped it around the post.
Hearts' pressure soon paid dividends. Georgia Timms dribbled into the box and was taken out, as referee Lorraine Watson awarded a penalty.
In the 70th minute, the striker stepped up and coolly dispatched her penalty into the bottom right corner, giving Schumacher no chance in goal.
The women in maroon got their second of the afternoon in the 82nd minute.
Jess Husband did brilliantly as she sprinted down the left flank, she passed to Andrews who played a return pass to play Husband into the box. She got it on to her left foot and hit a powerful strike into the top left corner for 2-0, sending the Jambos support into raptures.
In the end, the Jambos sealed all three points in Gorgie as they lifted the Capital Cup in front of the 4,826 Hearts fans at Tynecastle.
