Match Report: Hearts Women 0-0 Glasgow City

18 May 2026

Hearts Women remained top of the Scottish Power Women’s Premier League with a 0-0 draw against Glasgow City at Oriam on Sunday.

The draw, and Rangers’ 4-0 win on Sunday against Celtic, means that it will go down to a final day league decider next weekend, with the Jambos making the short trip to face Hibernian in the Edinburgh derby at Meadowbank.

Eva Olid made no changes to the side that defeated Celtic 2-1 last weekend in Hamilton.

It was a predictably cagey start to proceedings at Oriam with Glasgow City seeing plenty of the ball in the early exchanges.

The first shot on target of the afternoon fell to City’s Abigail Harrison who struck one on the volley just outside the box, but it was comfortable for Rachael Johnstone in goal for the Jambos.

On 20 minutes, Emily Gray whipped in a dangerous cross from the left which found Emily Whelan in the middle, as she saw her header go over the crossbar.

Leanne Ross’ side had a huge chance to open the scoring not long after as Kimberley Smit’s effort was blazed over from six yards out.

Hearts could have easily made it 1-0 themselves just before the break. The Jambos broke at pace following a Glasgow City corner, as Johns fizzed in a dangerous low cross into the box. Joely Andrews arrived to strike it first time on her right foot but her effort went narrowly wide of the post.

Half-time: Hearts 0-0 Glasgow City

On 57 minutes, Hearts were awarded a free-kick at the edge of the box. Danique Ypema stepped up and looked to curl it over the wall, but it didn’t quite come down as it went over the bar in the end.

Just after, Eilidh Shore looked to test Lee Gibson from distance with a powerful strike which was caught by the City goalkeeper.

Substitute Lisa Forrest nearly made an instant impact off the bench in the 76th minute, as her headed effort went wide of the target from close range.

In the 88th minute, Slattery sent a corner in from the left which came to Ypema who hooked it high in the air as Timms latched on to the ball and looked to loft it over the head of Gibson, but the goalkeeper was able to claim it.

Ultimately, both sides had to settle for a point, as the women in maroon will go again next weekend at Meadowbank.
