Match Report: Hearts B 3-0 Albion Rovers

11 April 2026

Hearts B secured a 3-0 victory over Albion Rovers in their final home league game of the season on Friday night.

Second-half goals from Connor Dow, Owen Muirhead and Euan Banks gave the Wee Jambos a well deserved win in Pilton.

Angus Beith made four changes from last weekend’s away defeat against East Stirlingshire.

Alfie Osborne returned to captain the Wee Jambos, as Josh Radcliffe, Boyd Fraser and Connor Dow also started against The Rovers. Allan Clark, Ryan Kelly, Keir McMeekin and Jayden Mathie all dropped out.

It was a lively start to proceedings with both sides battling for every ball under the lights at Ainslie Park.

On 9 minutes, Boyd Fraser glided through midfield and lined a strike up from just outside the box which unfortunately struck the back of Connor Dow on the way through as the visitors regained possession.

With 20 played, the Wee Jambos played a free-kick short to Owen Muirhead who turned quickly away from his marker and had a strike from the edge of the area which was blazed over the bar.

The Wee Jambos’ best opportunity of the half fell to Connor Dow on 25 minutes. After some neat play in the build-up, Muirhead fed it into Dow in the box, who spun quickly before striking one on his right foot which forced a good stop from Halliwell to deny him.

The Rovers could have easily opened the scoring themselves just past the half hour mark. Barry Duncan sent the corner in from the right and centre-back Alan Reid saw his headed effort go wide of the left hand post.

Just after, his centre-back partner Adam McMillan also headed wide from another corner swung in from the right.

Half-time: Hearts 0-0 Albion Rovers

Hearts made the all-important breakthrough on 49 minutes. Charlie Sanders played the ball over the top to Connor Dow who fired past Halliwell for 1-0.

The Jam Tarts doubled their advantage in the 53rd minute. Goalscorer Dow struck a curled effort on his left foot which was saved initially by Halliwell, but Owen Muirhead was the quickest to react as he slammed the ball home at the front post for 2-0.

Buoyed by the second goal, Hearts continued to pile the pressure on as Charlie Sanders saw his left footed effort in the box saved by Halliwell.

Substitute Euan Banks put the game to bed in the 86th minute. Callen Robb did brilliantly down the left hand side as he drove into the box and squared it for Banks who arrived to strike into the bottom left corner for 3-0.

Banks’ goal capped off a thoroughly deserved victory for the Wee Jambos, as they ended their time at Ainslie Park on a high in the Lowland League.
