Match Report: Hamilton Women 0-2 Hearts

31 August 2025

Hearts Women secured their first win of the Scottish Women’s Premier League campaign with a 2-0 victory over Hamilton at New Douglas Park on Sunday.

Second half strikes from Carly Johns and Georgia Timms helped the Jambos pick up three points in Hamilton.

Manager Eva Olid shuffled the pack against Hamilton, with five changes to the starting lineup.

Danique Ypema came into replace Lizzie Waldie in defence, Jenna Slattery started ahead of Eilidh Shore in midfield, Joely Andrews was swapped for Brodie Greenwood, Keri Halliday came in for Monica Forsyth and Georgia Timms was rested for Kayla Jardine.

The women in white and maroon saw plenty of the ball early on in the match.

Jess Husband played it to Jenna Slattery at the edge of the area, she hit one on her right foot but couldn't generate enough power to trouble Erin Halliday in goal for Hamilton.

Just after, the ball was whipped in by Lauren Wade to the front post to Carly Johns, and her effort went wide of the post from close range.

Hearts were soon on the attack again. Keri Halliday slipped Johns in behind who had another strike, but it was straight at Halliday.

Despite dominating the possession in the first half, Hearts struggled to break down Hamilton’s defence and were unable to create many clear cut chances.

The Jam Tarts looked to up their intensity after the break, as Eva Olid made four changes going into the second 45. Georgia Timms, Eilidh Shore, Joely Andrews and Monica Forsyth were brought on.

But Hamilton looked to be through on goal straight away.

In the 46th minute, Chloe Muir was slipped behind the Hearts defence and had only Rachael Johnstone in goal to beat, but her strike went wide of the left hand post.

Substitute Georgia Timms drove into the box at speed and managed to get a strike away aiming for the bottom left corner, as Halliday denied her with a routine stop.

The Jambos finally found the breakthrough in the 58th minute.

It was brilliant work from winger Lauren Wade who sprinted down the left wing and fizzed the ball in and across the face of goal. Carly Johns was on hand to fire it home from close range and to score her first goal for Hearts.

On 72 minutes, Johns nearly got her second. Timms played her strike partner into the box who struck one first time, forcing a good stop from Halliday.

In the 85th minute, Wade took Hearts’ corner on the left and fired it to the edge of the box to find Bayley Hutchison. The attacker looked to curl one on her right foot, but it sailed over the bar in the end.

Hearts put the game to bed not long after. In the 88th minute, Georgia Timms fired in a ball from the right wing. Her cross turned shot caught out Halliday as it ended up in the top left corner of the net for 2-0, sealing the victory for the Jambos.
