Match Report: Aberdeen 1-5 Hearts Women

19 October 2025

Hearts cruised to victory as they defeated Aberdeen 5-1 at Balmoral Stadium in the Scottish Power Women’s Premier League on Sunday.

The women in maroon were 2-0 up at the break with a double from striker Carly Johns, before Bayley Hutchison, Joely Andrews and Sade Adamolekun got on the scoresheet in the second 45 to take the three points back to Edinburgh.

Eva Olid made three changes from the 7-0 win over Montrose last weekend.

Monica Forsyth, Georgia Timms and Eilidh Shore came in to replace Sade Adamolekun, Kayla Jardine and Joely Andrews.

It was a comfortable afternoon for the Jambos as they dominated the possession and looked a constant threat going forward.

Hearts took the lead in the 14th minute. Striker Carly Johns pounced on a slack pass in defence as she showed great composure to round Katie Cox in goal for Aberdeen and scored for 1-0.

In the 18th minute, Bayley Hutchison turned well  in midfield and  set Johns away down the right, she drove into the box and looked to fizz the ball across the face of goal, but Aberdeen were able to get it cleared.

Hutchison had a chance of her own in the 32nd minute as she was played in behind the Aberdeen defence and hit a strike on her left foot which hit the side netting.

The Jam Tarts got their second just before half-time. It was a move straight off the training ground from the corner as Lizzie Waldie played in a low cross, striker Carly Johns peeled away from her marker and slotted home into the bottom right corner for 2-0.

Half-time: Aberdeen 0-2 Hearts

Hearts looked to maintain their attacking pressure in the second half.

Aberdeen had a decent opportunity to pull a goal back early on in the second half as Clarke was thwarted by Rachael Johnstone as she made a good low stop to deny her.

Bayley Hutchison made it 3-0 in the 55th minute. The striker was played in behind and made no mistake with her finish as she scored into the bottom left corner.

In the 74th minute, Johns played the cut back to substitute Joely Andrews at the back post as she scored from close range for 4-0.

In the 81st minute, Sade Adamolekun came off the bench to make an instant impact. The midfielder was brought down in the box and the referee pointed to the spot.

Sade stepped up and coolly dispatched her penalty into the bottom right corner for 5-0.

On 85 minutes, the hosts scored a late consolation goal. Abigail Tobin’s cross caught out Rachael Johnstone, the goalkeeper nearly kept it from crossing the line but the goal was given for 5-1.

In the end, it was a deserved three points for Hearts as they secured the victory in Aberdeen.
