Match Preview: Partick Thistle (A)

23 March 2023

Form:

The Jambos have come out on top in the three previous meetings this season between the sides, winning 3-1 and 2-1 in the league, before a 4-1 victory after extra time, saw Hearts victorious in the Scottish Cup against the Jags in February.

Hearts will be looking to bounce back after being knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Celtic at Oriam last Sunday.

Thistle made a late push for the final top-six spot in SWPL1 with four wins in their last five league matches enough to see them finish in the top half. Recent narrow victories against Abderdeen, Hamilton and Dundee United highlight this Thistle team know how to grind out results.

Georgia Timms has scored five goals against Thistle this season and will be looking to add to that tally on Sunday, however Thistle have scored in every game against Hearts this season, so action is expected at both ends.

How to watch:

It is a 1pm kick-off at Petershill, but if you can’t make it along, don’t worry, the game is being shown live on the BBC Sport Scotland website. You can also follow all the action on the Hearts Women Twitter page, @heartswomenfc

Tickets are available on the gate and are priced at £7 for adults, £5 for concessions and kids go free. Cash or card is accepted.

Assistant manager, Sean Burt’s thoughts:

“It will be a difficult match," Burt said. "Partick will be on an incredible high after achieiving their top-six target, however it's a challenge we are relishing and one we are looking forward to.

From our point of view, given how last week ended, we've seen a fantastic reaction in training so far and in general we feel we have performed well against Partick this season, especially away from home. So, we'll be hoping for the same again on Sunday."
