Leonard loving Hearts loan
03 April 2026Marc Leonard says he’s loving life on loan at Hearts, a move he admits just ‘felt right’.
The midfielder has slotted in seamlessly and with injuries to the likes of Tomas Magnusson, Oisin McEntee, Beni Baningime and Cammy Devlin at various points in the season, Leonard has stepped up to fill the void and more.
With seven games remaining, the Jambos remain at the summit of the Premiership and while acknowledging the exciting times that are unfolding, it’s full focus on Sunday’s trip to West Lothian.
“It's exciting,” he told the media at the pre-match press conference.
“We've had a really good season so far and we're feeling confident. We've put in a lot of strong performances, and we know how to win games at this point. So, we're looking forward to it, but again, every game comes with its challenges.
“It all came about pretty quickly. Speaking to the manager, I got a good idea that if I could play to my abilities that there would be healthy competition in the squad. That's one of the reasons I wanted to come, because it can be difficult moving in January.
“A lot of players know what it's like. You can be coming into a team that's obviously settled like this. We're flying at the top of the league because everybody's been playing so well all season.
“I think as soon as I heard that Hearts were in for me, it just felt right. As a footballer, I've had a couple of different loan moves and a couple of different permanent moves. You just get that feeling when it comes about.
“I've said it before, you get that feeling, you get that excitement. You speak to your family about it, you can tell that they're buying into it. Run it past the Mrs, as she's the boss at the end of the day, so she was buzzing.
“Coming in it’s a lot different to where the club was the last time I was here. The club always had the same morals and the same goals throughout and it's been brilliant.”
