Kirk signs new deal

18 March 2024

Heart of Midlothian is delighted to announce that Makenzie Kirk has signed a new contract to remain at the club until the summer of 2025.

‘Mak’, the son of former Hearts frontman Andy, has enjoyed another prolific campaign in maroon, leading the line for the Wee Jambos in what has been a very successful season in the Lowland League.

Kirk scored 27 goals in all competitions before joining Hamilton Accies on loan until the end of the season, at the beginning of the January transfer window.

The 20-year-old has now put pen to paper on a new contract as he looks to further his career in a maroon jersey.

Speaking to the Official Hearts Website, B Team head coach, Liam Fox said:

“With Mak, everyone will speak about his goals during the first half of the season, and rightly so, but he also produced some really impressive performances in those games, which was equally pleasing for me.

“As a club, we made the decision to put him on loan for the second half of the season, to further his career, and although, he will not have played as much as he would’ve liked, it highlights how difficult it is to be a first team player.

“This will be a learning experience for Mak. It's great that he has been rewarded for his efforts, in the shape of this new contract and I have no doubt that he will come back next season stronger and ready to work hard."

Congratulations, Mak!
