Jorge: We’re well prepared

11 March 2024

Jorge Grant insists the Jambos are well aware of what to expect as they prepare to travel to Cappielow for tonight’s Scottish Cup quarter-final against Greenock Morton.

The Championship side have already pulled off a minor cup shock by knocking out Premiership opposition, as they defeated Motherwell 2-1 in the previous round and Grant admits the men in maroon have done their homework on their opponents.

Speaking to the media at the pre-match press conference, Grant said:

“We have watched lots of them over the last couple of days. It’s important that we’re ready for what comes. We know what they can bring, but it’s more about us, what we do, how we deal with what they have, as well as bringing our own game.

“You would expect them to try and make it difficult for us, that’s what cup ties are all about, so we just need to deal with it. We can take confidence from the previous rounds, we have gone to away grounds and won the games, so it’s important that we do that again.”

Hearts come into the match after an impressive 2-0 victory over Celtic last weekend and Grant insists morale in the camp is high as the Jambos target a return to the national stadium.

“We have a really good group here,” he said. “All the lads get on really well and long may that continue. It’s important that even if we do lose a game in the future, we don’t let that affect us, we need to make sure we stay together.

“It’s important that we don’t lose sight of that being the end goal, to get through to the next round. We have done really well in the league, but everyone wants to win silverware, so if we can give ourselves an opportunity to do that, then that would be great for the players and the club.”
