Hungry for more

29 September 2022

Oriam returned to its usual business this week after a successful international period saw Craig Gordon and Stephen Kingsley shine for Scotland, while Cammy Devlin and Nate Atkinson picked up their first and fifth caps for Australia, respectively.

There’s no time to rest on laurels; especially when a bumper October schedule of eight matches begins when Rangers come to Tynecastle on cinch Premiership business on Saturday.

“Yeah, the players got a wee bit of time off last week,” he told the press in his pre-match media conference.

“We had a few international boys and, thankfully, they’ve all come back unscathed. I’m really pleased for the guys that got game time; I think it’s important for this club’s stature that we have international players. It benefits us as well because they come back with a hunger.

“We just need to get on with it now, to be honest. It’s all about balancing the squad between who needs game time and who needs some time to rest. The league, as we’ve said all along, is the most important thing for us.

“It’s the league that’s gets us these tournaments and big games in Europe. Rangers are no different; it’s a massive game, a full house, a great atmosphere, and we’ll be looking to win it.

“We know if we win on Saturday, we’ll be second, so it’s a great opportunity. No matter who we play at Tynecastle, we expect to win.”
