Humps thanks teammates after derby win

The on-loan Wigan forward made his first appearance for Hearts in twelve weeks in the Edinburgh derby this afternoon, coming off the bench in the second half to score the decisive third goal in a thrilling 3-0 win over Hibs.

Whilst recovery from injury has been a lonely road for Humps, he hopes the worst is behind him as he looks to get back to the sparkling form he showed in the first stage of the season.

“It’s an amazing feeling to be bacl,” he told Hearts TV. “I was out for three months. It can get lonely and depressing at times but credit to the lads – they’ve helped me get through it. There’s no better feeling than coming back and scoring. We got a clean sheet – especially in the derby.

“I said that when I came back from injury, I was come on against Hibs and score a goal. I promised the lads I would do the griddy if I scored. So I did! It’s the best atmosphere that I’ve played in front of for quite some time.

“Credit to the fans for sticking with us right to the end because Hibs put us under a bit of pressure. Hopefully we can keep the momentum up now going into the next few weeks.”
