Home comforts for Hearts Women

17 October 2022

The girls were looking to bounce back following disappointing defeats to Glasgow City and Spartans and manager Eva Olid had a selection dilemma with numerous players missing through injury.

Hearts almost got off to the perfect start when Georgia Timms met a corner from the left, but the visitors were able to clear the ball off the line and away to safety.

In what was a fairly even first half, Hearts managed to get their noses in front five minutes before the break. After a shot came back off the woodwork, Trialist was able to bundle the ball home from close range.

As if a 1-0 lead at the break wasn’t enough, things got even better for the girls just two minutes later. Ciara Grant’s corner from the right was perfect for Vyan Sampson to rise and bullet a header past AJ Meach to give Hearts a two-goal lead at the interval.

Into the second half and Hearts were now firmly controlling the match. Trialist almost added a third with a rocket from distance but was denied by the post on 56 minutes.

The chances kept coming for Hearts to find the third goal that would kill off Aberdeen and it should’ve arrived on the hour mark. Erin Rennie did well to feed Georgia Timms, but the striker dragged her effort wide.

That third goal did arrive just seven minutes later courtesy of Ciara Grant. The midfielder had come close from distance just minutes before and when Aberdeen invited her to have another attempt, this time she found the top corner in fabulous fashion from 25-yards to seal the victory.

Hearts saw the game out professionally, preserving their clean sheet. Timms and Gwen Davies both came close in the final ten minutes to adding a fourth, but three goals were enough to set Hearts back on the winning trail.
