Handley and Brownlie depart
26 May 2025The club can confirm the departures of Emma Brownlie and Addie Handley following the expiration of their contracts.
Both defenders have been with the club throughout manager Eva Olid’s tenure with Handley joining the club in the summer of 2021 and Brownlie arriving in 2022, as the first player to join the club on a full-time professional contract.
The duo have both been integral to the Jambos’ rise through the ranks of Scottish women’s football, culminating in Emma leading the club out at Hampden as the club reached the Scottish Cup Final for the first time in its history.
Now the pair move on to pastures new and everyone at the club would like to thank both Addie and Emma for all their hard work and wish them all the very best in the future.
Speaking to the Official Hearts Website on the departures, manager, Eva Olid said:
“Addie has been a part of this project since the first season. She is one of the most hard-working players I have ever met. An excellent person and brilliant professional. We had an honest conversation, and both agree that it’s important for her now to look for minutes and consistent game time. I wish her every success, thank her for sharing these four seasons with us and being a part of our transition.”
On Emma Brownlie, Eva added:
“Emma was the first professional player to sign with us and trust the project. She joined an amateur team that still had a lot to show, and she wanted be part of it. I have a lot to thank her for.
"She lived the transition process. We had an excellent relationship as a captain and manager. I wish her every success in her future and thank her for all of her efforts at the club.”
